David-RogersChair, Day One, 18th November
David Rogers, Director of External Relations, OMTP


David Rogers is the Director of External Relations for OMTP, liaising with standards bodies and other members of the mobile phone industry. He is the Chair of OMTP’s Incident Handling task, Programme Manager for the ‘Advanced Trusted Environment’ and is currently working on the BONDI mobile web initiative. In 2007 he authored the OMTP’s security whitepaper, ‘Mobile Handset Security: Securing Open Devices and Enabling Trust’. David joined OMTP in 2006 after 8 years at Panasonic Mobile. Whilst there, he headed up Panasonic’s Product Security initiatives in Europe, including investigating hacking against mobile devices.

He also managed a development team specialising in hardware, software and security solutions for service centres worldwide. Prior to this David worked for Fujitsu Microelectronics Ltd, in their Newton Aycliffe DRAM fab. He holds an MSc in Software Engineering from Oxford University and a HND in Mechatronics and Semiconductor Process Engineering from the University of Teesside.

Mr Janne Uusilehto, Head of Product Security, Nokia 



Mr. Janne Uusilehto has a long experience in ICT industry, having begun his career already during his studies in 1982, as an independent SW developer and consultant for small businesses.

He began working with security related tasks as an IT Support and Electronic Banking Specialist; this took place in several Finnish banks. Latest position in a bank he held in Nordea (then Merita-Nordbanken) as a global Cash Management Specialist and product responsible for telecommunication areas of cash management software. Among other duties, Mr. Uusilehto was a member of the Merita-Nordbanken Cash Management Services team who initiated Internet sales portals in Finland in mid 1990’s.

Nokia recruited Mr.Uusilehto at 1998. His current position is the Head of Nokia Product Security, globally responsible for Nokia product security development. His team is the overall owner of Product Security and product security related education, awareness and process improvement tasks.

Janne Uusilehto is also a member of several Nokia internal security related management boards, Nokia’s main representative to Trusted Computing Group, Chairman of TCG Mobile WG, Chairman of EICTA mobile Security Issue group and Nokia’s main representative and board member to SAFECode forum.

Anders HandsmatsAnders Hansmats, Senior Security Advisor, Mobility Services, TeliaSonera, Sweden



Anders is currently working at the TeliaSonera Product Security group. He has been working with information/IT-security at TeliaSonera for over ten years as a security expert and security researcher. He has experience in mobile security standardisation, national and international research project and working as a security expert within the TeliaSonera corperation.

Andy Williams, Detective Sergeant, National Mobile Phone Crime Unit, UK 

 I am a serving Metropolitan Police Detective Sergeant with 24 years service. My operational background is within the covert policing arena including postings to high profile murder investigations, murder reviews, intelligence led policing operations, the handling of covert sources of information and surveillance operations. More recently I have been involved in the setting up of the National Mobile Phone Crime Unit. Within the NMPCU my role is the supervision and deployment of our covert assets and the identification of new and emerging technologies that are being developed and exploited by organised criminal networks.


CharlesBrooksonCharles Brookson, Chairman, ETSI OCG Security


Charles Brookson works in the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and is a Professional Electronic Engineer. He is Chairman of ETSI OCG Security, which is responsible for security within ETSI. He is also on the Permanent Stakeholders group of ENISA, The European Network and Information Security Agency.He previously was Head of Security for one2one (now T-Mobile UK), and worked within British Telecom for twenty years before. He has worked in many security areas over the last 30 years.

He has been Chairman on the GSM Association Security Group. He has been working the GSM and 3GPP security standards, first chairing the Algorithm Expert Group way back in 1986. He is Chairman of the NISSG, a group that was set up to co-ordinate security standards amongst the three European Security Standards Organisations and other bodies outside Europe.


Colin BlanchardColin Blanchard, Security Risk and Compliance Director, British Telecoms, UK


Colin Blanchard began his career in 1975 as a design engineer with a manufacturer of mobile radio equipment. He joined BT in 1989 and was responsible for a team developing test processes for cellular radio equipment.   In 1995, he joined BT and has acted as the principal security design consultant to a number of BT programmes.   From 1996 to 1998 has was Chairman of the ETSI SMG10 UMTS Security working group which carried out the initial requirements work and defined the security architecture for 3GPP. He is currently the BT delegate to the ETSI TISPAN security-working group and the 3GPP SA3 security-working group. Areas of interest include the assessment of the security implications of fixed network inter-working with mobile devices and applications, and the security impact of network/device API functions for third party service creation.



Craig_HeathCraig Heath,
Principle Product Manager for Security and Privacy, Symbian Limited, UK

Craig has been working in IT security since 1988, first with The Santa Cruz Operation as security architect for SCO UNIX, then at Lutris Technologies as security architect for their Java Enterprise Application Server.  He joined Symbian in 2002, working in product management and strategy.  He has contributed to several published industry standards and has a long association with The Open Group Security Forum, including co-authorship of the Open Group Technical Guide to Security Design Patterns.  Craig is lead author of "Symbian OS Platform Security" published by Wiley.


Dominic KirstenDominic Kirsten, Head of Research and Development services, FTS




Dominic Kirsten has nearly 20 years experience in the wireless telecommunications industry during which time he has held a number of senior technical and managerial positions. For over 5 years he worked as a senior strategic consultant advising mobile operators, suppliers and regulators on the application and use of mobile technology.  He currently works at Forensic Telecommunications Services (FTS) where he heads the R&D Department, as well as contributing to numerous cases giving an impartial service to the Criminal Justice System and providing evidence as an expert witness in Court.

Fabrizio Capobianco is CEO of Funambol, Inc., the leading provider of open source push email and mobile cloud sync solutions for the mass market. Fabrizio is a serial entrepreneur and veteran executive of the mobile industry, with work experience that includes Reuters and Tibco. He founded the first Italian Web company in 1994 and also founded a developer of an information portal product with customers that included Kraft, Novartis, Italian Broadcasting Television and the Italian Stock Exchange. Capobianco has taught university courses on mobile and holds a Ph.D. in computer science at the University of Pavia, Italy, with a focus on usability. He has been recognized as a top "40 under 40" tech leader and a mobile email visionary. He writes a blog that was voted among the 20 best in the wireless industry.

Hadi NahariHadi Naharti, Principle Security Architect, eBay, Inc. US

Hadi Nahari is a software security professional with over 17 years of experience in all aspects of software development lifecycle, including extensive work in design and architecture, verification, proof-of-concept, and implementation of secure software systems. Hadi has worked on large scale, high-end enterprise solutions, as well as resource-constrained embedded systems, with primary focus on security, cryptography, complex systems design, and Vulnerability Assessment & Threat Analysis. Hadi is a frequent speaker in U.S. and international security-related events and has led and contributed to various security projects for Netscape Communications, Sun Microsystems, United States Government, Motorola, MontaVista, etc. Hadi is currently Principal Security Architect at eBay.

James MoranJames Moran, Fraud and Security Director, Security Group, GSMA  

As Fraud & Security Director, James Moran provides an advisory service to all Association members, including communication of latest issues, support for the work of the Fraud Forum and Security Groups on a global basis in liaison with other relevant Association Working Groups and external organisations.


Keith DempsterKeith Dempster, Partner, Kerman and Co LLP, UK

Keith attended Hull University and the College of Law, qualifying in 1993. He has a general MBA from Warwick Business School and qualified as a corporate finance advisor under the SFA rules. Keith came to Kerman & Co  LLP as a partner in 2006 with fifteen years experience of international corporate transactions under his belt. Keith specialises in public company and AIM work, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial law including joint ventures and contracts regarding information technology and telecommunications.

Mark_Blowers Mark Blowers, Enterprise Architectures Practice Director, Butler Group, UK

Mark joined Butler Group in August 2000, and is Enterprise Architectures Practice Director. He has worked on a number of strategic and architectural themes over the last few years, including Enterprise Architecture, IT Value Management, Enterprise Communications, and Mobility. Utilising an architectural approach is an important theme that influences many areas of Butler Group’s work going forward.

Mark maintains an ongoing interest in Enterprise Communications, authoring reports on Application Delivery and Unified Communications, along with presenting at Butler Group management briefings on communication technologies. Mark has also researched many other aspects of Enterprise IT, including reports on Server Operating Systems, Server and Storage Consolidation, Linux in the Enterprise, Managing the Storage of Information, Measuring IT Cost and Value, Achieving IT Flexibility, and most recently Sustainable IT Provision.

Mark has been widely quoted in the press, including the Financial Times, Guardian, Computing, Computer Weekly, Internet news sites, and other trade magazines.

Mark Priestley Mark Priestley, Security Technonologies Researcher, Vodafone Group R&D, UK 



Mark Priestley is a Security Expert within the Security and Maths Team in Vodafone Group R&D. Since joining Vodafone in 2003 he has worked on a broad range of security related projects including the EU 6th Framework Project Ambient Networks, the OMA BCAST Service and Content Protection standard and schemes to reduce mobile phone theft. More recently his focus has shifted to security issues arising from the evolution of the mobile Internet. In this context Mark has been an active member of the Architecture and Security workstream within the OMTP’s BONDI initiative. He holds a BA in Artificial Intelligence from Sussex University.

Milan Nikolic', age of  51, head of security in Telenor Serbia, responsible for security governance, physical/technical security, information security and data protection, telecommunications fraud, assistance to law enforcement, internal investigations etc. Basic education M.Sc. In Electronics and telecommunications.  Before joining Telenor in 2007. worked in government security sector for 26 years, in State Security Service,  Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Criminal Police Directorate, with the scope of engagement from field operations officer, through all levels of management, to head of operations-technical services. Area of competence is ranging from regulatory and organizational development, program, project, operations to specific case management in electronic surveillance, telecommunications interception and monitoring, electronic warfare, cryptology, information security, digital and network forensics, investigations of  cybercrime and some other areas related to special investigation means and intelligence operations. From 2003. I was included in several EU and CoE funded projects targeting reform of Justice and Home Affairs sector in Serbia and harmonization to EU models and standards. Consequently I am also quite familiar with the major telecomm security aspects at global level.

Sinisha Patkovic holds the role of BlackBerry Security Consultant. Sinisha is also one of the main stakeholders in driving forward the BlackBerry Security Advisory Service.Before joining RIM, Sinisha held a range of business and IT roles in the technology and financial services industries.Sinisha is currently based in Bougival, France.

Storm LanaasenStorm Jarl Landaasen, Division Head of Security, Telenor Business




Storm Jarl Landaasen has been Division Head of Security at Telenor´s Norwegian Business Division for the last six years, and with Telenor group since 1997.  As Division Head of Security, Storm are delegated responsibility by the Division Director for the operative information security work in the division and thus responsible for ensuring that the Division Director's obligations in the security area are fulfilled satisfactorily in accordance with the specific security level. Storm has the authority and an obligation to point out weaknesses and recommend improvements of a security-related nature directly to any organisational unit in the division. As well as educating and training the Crisis Management Team he is also responsible for maintaining a threat picture in the information security area in the division, as a basis for the overall threat picture for Telenor´s Nordic operation.

He studied Security Management at PwC Academy in Denmark in 2005 / 2006, and programming (among other subjects) at the University of Oslo prior to this. Before moving into telecoms, Storm worked as a journalist, farmer and teacher.

Thomas NoguesThomas Nogues, Director of Technology, EMEA, Motion Picture Association (MPA)



Thomas Nogues is Director of Technology EMEA for the Motion Picture Association (MPA). His main focus is on enabling new content distribution channels and usage options for consumers by supporting the deployment of effective digital content protection, rights management and anti-piracy technologies. For several years, he has been an active participant in worldwide technology standards organizations. Thomas has over ten years experience in Digital TV working particularly on Content Protection and Interactivity. Prior to joining the MPA, Thomas held several senior positions at NDS, a leading Conditional Access and Middleware provider. He started his career in the semiconductor industry working for ST Microelectronics both in France and UK. Thomas holds a degree in Applied Physics from Grenoble University as well as an Engineering degree in Telecom from "Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications" ENST Paris.

Tim Wright is a Principle Staff Engineer in the Motorola Mobile Devices Security Technology Centre. This group is the platform security authority within Motorola Mobile Devices and Tim works on all aspects of device platform security from processor hardware security features through to software architecture and code specification and review, covering topics such as secure boot, secure execution environments and Digital Rights Management. In addition, Tim supports Motorola EMEA and India (EMEAI) operator account teams, promoting the security features of Motorola phones to EMEAI operators and other significant customers. Tim is also the Motorola standards representative to 3GPP SA3, the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), EICTA Security Interest Group, the GSMA Security Group and leads Motorola involvement in OMTP. Prior to joining Motorola in 2006, Tim worked for Vodafone for 11 years and during that time worked on most aspects of mobile phone and network security and took part in many security standards groups, including chairing the OMA Security group. In addition to the hard, technical ability that all these roles require, Tim also has exceptional inter-personal and communications skills, and is a noted presenter, chair, facilitator and writer.

Tom Craig is a former senior detective with the Metropolitan Police Fraud Squad based at New Scotland Yard. He specialised in National and International fraud related crimes and has spoken on the subject on a world wide basis.

He retired from the police in 1999 after 30 years of distinguished service and became the Director of Fraud Prevention for HLB International, a leading accountancy and business advisory group with offices around the world. Part of his role was to introduce fraud training for accountants and auditors to allow them to assist their clients in preventing fraud. His training methodology has been translated into French, German and Spanish.

In 2003 he founded his own company Amarlis and he now provides consultancy to organisations in relation to fraud related issues. Either through education and training, as well as carrying out investigations. He is regarded as one of the leading authorities in relation to Identity Theft and counterfeit documents.

He currently advises the BBC, ITV, Sky and other international current affairs and news media in relation to Identity theft / fraud issues, as well as appearing on several television programs. Kenyon Confronts, McKintyre Undercover, Scambusters to name but a few.

He is a founder member of the Fraud Advisory Panel, ICAEW and former vice president of the UK ACFE chapter and has a long association with UK Local Authority Investigation Officers Group.

Away from fraud Tom is a regular golfer, enjoys walking his dog .
